SACRAMENTO, Calif. – DBA International, the nonprofit trade association representing the purchased receivables secondary market, commends the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on its new website, www.IdentityTheft.gov. The FTC’s new website is integrated with its consumer complaint system and is a much-needed resource for the millions of Americans victimized by identity theft.
The website enables consumers victimized by identity theft to rapidly file a complaint with the FTC and receive a personalized guide to recovery. DBA International empathizes with consumers subjected to identity theft and is why identity theft and fraud procedures are part of its industry leading Receivables Management Certification Program that is required to be followed by all DBA certified members.
“A comprehensive approach, with involvement by federal and state government entities, the private sector and educated consumers is necessary to combat widespread identify theft,” said DBA International Executive Director Jan Stieger. “The FTC’s website and DBA’s certification standard are two important components in the on-going fight to stop or minimize a problem that plagues millions of Americans every year.”
