Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. (WWR), a creditors? rights/collections law firm, announced today that its employees raised $23,605.24 in support of the March of Dimes? 2006 WalkAmerica campaign. The March of Dimes is just one of the many charities that WWR supports each year.
Since March, WWR employees from all ten of its offices raised money for the campaign through various fundraising activities including: walk sponsor dollars, cook-offs, money jugs, bake sales, bartender nights, parking spot raffles, sporting event ticket raffles, manicure/pedicure raffles and a t-shirt design contest. On a weekly basis, employees participated in ?blue jeans for babies? days, where they made donations for the privilege to wear casual clothes to work. Over 50 employees from WWR?s Burlington (NJ), Brooklyn Heights (OH), Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Grove City (OH), Philadelphia and Pittsburgh offices signed up to participate in the actual walk in their respective cities. The walks took place the last week of April and the first week of May.
?WWR has been supporting the March of Dimes for over five years, not just locally but firm-wide?, said Sara Donnersbach, firm coordinator for the March of Dimes. ?Approximately 950 firm employees collected donations and competed in other fundraising activities to help the March of Dimes. While partnering with the March of Dimes, our employees not only have a lot of fun, but they give their time, talent and funds to help save babies and raise public awareness of the problems associated with premature births. Supporting the March of Dimes promotes a healthy, positive work environment and encourages firm-wide volunteerism. The March of Dimes, along with other charities our firm supports, brings our employees together for more than just routine work. It?s a positive experience all-around!?
WalkAmerica, which celebrated its 36th anniversary in April of this year, is the nation?s oldest walking event and the March of Dimes? largest fund-raiser. Funds raised through WalkAmerica support lifesaving research and innovative programs that save babies from prematurity, birth defects, low birth weight and infant mortality.
?WWR?s philosophy is to recognize our success by giving back to the communities in which we live and work by supporting worthwhile causes,? said Alan Weinberg, managing partner of the firm. ?We demonstrate this philosophy by our commitment to volunteerism and charitable giving by the firm and all of its employees. The partners of the firm set the example by their own commitment of time and money to these causes. The firm encourages and rewards its employees for their contribution to making this philosophy a reality.?
